Web 2.0 Development
While you may not think that you as a lowly user of the Internet can
do anything to influence the process of Web 2.0 development, the
fact is that there are several things you can do to make your voice
and ideas known. Here are a few examples.
Many of the greatest technological innovations associated with the
Internet came to pass because someone had the germ of an idea. They
were not always technological geniuses, but those individuals did
wonder if it were possible to design a protocol or a software
package that would accomplish a particular function or purpose. With
this in mind, it is always possible that current Internet users,
even those with no real technical savvy, can think of something that
he or she wished could be accomplished using the Internet. That
simple act of reflection could lead to an innovation that would
revolutionize the way that people think about the Internet.
Taking the time to document these application wish lists and then
research to see if there is already something available that
fulfills the purpose is a great place to begin. When there appears
to be nothing around that scratches the itch, pitch your idea to
someone who is in a good position to know about current levels of
technology, such as a programmer or an Information Systems expert.
Combining your seed of an idea with current knowledge helps to pave
the way toward investigating the potential for coming up with
something new in the way of Web 2.0 development.
Last, be willing to take a chance. While your idea may be so beyond
the current levels of technology that only a few people see it as
being worthwhile to pursue, don't give up. Chances are there is
someone out there who has the vision to see the value of your idea,
and will consider it time well spent to watch for tools and research
that will make the concept more plausible over time. Web 2.0
development is all about thinking outside the box, after all. By
doing so, the old limits eventually pass away, and things that
people never thought possible come to pass.
